Is CoolSculpting Right for Me?
CoolSculpting an excellent way to shed those pesky pockets of stubborn fat that have become resistant to your best diet and exercise efforts. It’s perfect for men and women who want to eliminate those extra inches for good without the need for surgery. This minimally invasive fat-reducer uses a special cooling technology to effectively freeze away fat cells. CoolSculpting is only indicated for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or under. It’s also important that you’re in good health overall and continue to strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Where Does CoolSculpting Work Best?
With CoolSculpting, you can target most anywhere that unwanted fat has accumulated. CoolSculpting has been approved by the FDA to sculpt the:
- Abdomen
- Flanks/love handles
- Bra area
- Back
- Under the buttocks/banana roll
- Inner and outer thighs
- Upper arms
- Under the chin
What Are CoolSculpting Treatments Like?
CoolSculpting sessions at West Michigan Plastic Surgery are relatively quick and painless. Treatment usually takes about an hour per area targeted. Once you’ve been prepped and are ready to go, CoolSculpting’s cooling apparatus is placed over the specified area, and the tissues are gently suctioned into the device. It is now that the powerful cooling begins to freeze the fat cells. Most of our patients find CoolSculpting to be a well-tolerated procedure with only minor discomfort as the skin is initially cooled, which soon turns into a numbing or tingling sensation. After the CoolSculpting session is complete, your treated tissues will be massaged in order to expedite the fat-elimination process.
What to Expect After CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a safe and effective way to slim down and shape your physique. While this treatment does carry some side effects, they are typically mild and rare, and usually fade within days or weeks. Immediately following your session, you’ll likely notice some redness and firmness, temporary whitening and/or mild bruising of the skin around the treatment area, and you may continue to experience a slight tingling or stinging feeling.
In the weeks after, there may still be a little redness, bruising, swelling, and numbness. Some individuals also report feeling tenderness, cramping, itching, and aching afterward. Other, rarer side effects have been seen in both clinical studies and commercial use, so be sure to discuss any health issues or concerns with Dr. Holley prior to your fat-freezing session.
How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Will I Need?
Depending on your needs and goals, Dr. Holley may recommend a series of treatments for the best outcome possible. Some patients can reach their desired results after just two sessions, where others may need up to six to fully sculpt and shape their trouble spots.
