Even if you lead a healthy lifestyle, you may have areas of fat that diet and exercise will not budge. Liposuction can remove that stubborn fat and help you achieve a more sculpted body. If you want more fat removal than you can get from a noninvasive treatment, liposuction may be the right choice for you.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction breaks up and removes fat from almost any area of the body where fat can accumulate. It can remove significant amounts of fat that have resisted your healthy lifestyle efforts. Liposuction is intended for use as a body sculpting tool, and in the hands of an experienced surgeon like Dr. Scott Holley, it can enhance your figure and let you enjoy the shape you have worked to achieve.
How Does Liposuction Work?
Dr. Holley uses tumescent liposuction, injecting a sterile combination of saline and local anesthetic into the layer of fat under the skin. This method minimizes any bleeding during the procedure. He will then make several small incisions to insert the cannula. He will move this long, thin tool around to break up the fat and remove it from the body.
Liposuction can be performed on many parts of the body. Some of the most popular locations include:
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Flanks
- Hips
- Love handles
- Arms
- Neck
- Knees
Dr. Holley uses liposuction alone or for body sculpting during procedures such as tummy tucks. For a Brazilian butt lift, he will use liposuction to harvest fat from another part of the body and inject it into the buttocks. Arm, thigh, and neck lifts may also use liposuction to remove excess fat before tightening the skin.

Request a consultationWhat is Recovery Like From Liposuction?
You will have a compression garment or bandage to wear after surgery. This helps control swelling and protect your results. Your recovery timeline depends on the size and location of your treatment area. Most people can return to work within a week and become more active after two to three weeks. Residual swelling may keep you from seeing the complete results of your liposuction for up to six months.
What Results Will I See From Liposuction?
Since fat cells will not grow back or multiply, you can expect to enjoy your results for many years. You will need to maintain your healthy lifestyle to keep the remaining fat cells from getting larger. As swelling subsides, you will see the treated area look slimmer and more contoured. Muscles become more visible and defined, and you can appreciate your hard work.
Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
If you do not smoke or have any significant health problems, you may be a good candidate for liposuction. Dr. Holley will work with you to make sure you have reasonable expectations about what liposuction can accomplish for you.
