If you feel self-conscious about signs of aging, deep lines and wrinkles, and loose skin around the neck, a facelift offers a comprehensive solution to these problems with one long-lasting procedure. Other non-invasive techniques can provide some lift, but for significant loose skin and aging, only a facelift will provide the firmer, more youthful look you desire.
What is a Facelift?
A facelift uses hidden incisions to lift the facial skin, smooth out lines and wrinkles, and remove loose skin for long-lasting, more youthful results. In many cases, a facelift proves the best option for addressing even significant signs of aging. It also improves the appearance of the cheeks, chin, jaw, and neck all at the same time, bringing a more sculpted look to the whole lower part of the face.
Many people choose to have additional procedures along with a facelift. Since the facelift will not correct significant neck issues and does not work on the skin around the eyes, Dr. Scott Holley may recommend a brow lift, eyelid lift, or neck lift to keep your features in harmony with each other.
How Long Does a Facelift Last?
Over time, age-related changes will continue to work on your face, so your facelift will not look the same forever. One peer-reviewed study found that most people still had excellent results over five years after the original procedure, and many people may see results that last longer. Revision facelifts to refresh the results of the original are common and effective.
What are the Benefits of a Facelift?
A facelift is a commitment in terms of expense and recovery time, but you may find that it is more than worth it. Some benefits people enjoy after a facelift include:
- Long-lasting results
- Fewer lines and wrinkles
- Smoother skin
- More contoured jawline
- Lifted and repositioned facial muscles
- Removal of sagging skin
- Natural but the rejuvenated appearance

Request a consultationIs a Liquid Facelift the Same as a Facelift?
The term “liquid facelift” does not refer to an actual facelift procedure. This form of facelift uses Botox® and dermal fillers to achieve a subtle lift and a noticeable decrease in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. A liquid facelift can give people with mild signs of aging a good option for looking younger and decreasing wrinkles. However, a surgical facelift procedure will also remove loose skin and can correct even significant signs of aging, including deep facial creases.
What Results Will I See From a Facelift?
Today’s facelifts look more natural than ever before, with people reporting that they look like themselves except ten years younger. Most people will start to see their swelling and bruising fade after one to three weeks, and you can usually resume normal activities during this time with Dr. Holley’s approval. You will need to avoid too much strain, such as lifting things, for up to ten days.
