Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered how you got so old because of the wrinkles on your face? You don’t have to worry anymore because Botox® can eliminate your facial wrinkles and give you a rejuvenated appearance.
Botox® has become a popular treatment for reversing some signs of aging because it effectively reduces facial lines caused by expressions like frowning or squinting over time (which are often called dynamic lines).
Continue reading to understand what Botox® is and how long it takes to start noticing the effects of your Botox® treatment.
What is Botox®?
Botox® eliminates facial wrinkles by blocking nerve signals to the muscles. It is made from a toxin produced by Clostridium Botulinum, which can cause severe food poisoning if ingested in large amounts due to its toxicity.
However, the cosmetic version only targets specific glands resulting in fewer side effects than other procedures such as filler injections.
Botox ® reduces muscle activity when it is injected into the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. This causes the skin to become smoother, and wrinkles gradually soften over time following treatment.
Over the years, Botox® has received FDA-approval to treat various forms of pain, including chronic migraines, neck spasms, severe hand tremors, and excessive underarm sweating.
How Long Does Botox® Take to Work?
Botox® injections usually start to take effect within 3 days, depending on the area and volume injected. It can also depend on the levels of activities you engage in after your treatment.

During your Botox® treatment session, Dr. Holley’s team of injection specialists will inject botulinum toxin into the muscles that cause wrinkles or frown lines to form on your forehead and around your eyes. It’s a simple procedure that generally takes less than 30 minutes.
After our specialist has injected the Botox® into these areas, it begins to work by blocking signals from being sent to the facial muscles responsible for muscle movement.
You will begin to notice a rejuvenated appearance after a few days.
How Long Does a Botox® Treatment Last?
Several factors determine how long your Botox® treatment lasts. Some of them include:
- Your age
- Your metabolism
- Your Botox® dosage
- The injection site
