As we age, our collagen and elastin production lowers, causing sagging, wrinkling skin. Other concerns may arise from sun damage and debris. West Michigan Plastic Surgery performs RF microneedling treatments to assist in various skin conditions and concerns.
What is Radio Frequency Microneedling?
Radiofrequency, or RF energy, enhances the natural effects of microneedling. The tiny needles in microneedling treatments create channels in the skin to stimulate your body’s natural healing process. Furthermore, the RF energy in the tips of the needles penetrates deeper into the skin to improve collagen production.
The RF energy in this non-invasive and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatment also breaks apart fat in the subcutaneous layers to provide a more sculpted and firm contour.
What to Expect with my RF Microneedling Treatment
At West Michigan Plastic Surgery, we use the Morpheus8 for RF microneedling treatments. You’ll first attend a consultation to discuss your goals and concerns. Depending on your skin, a treatment plan is made to customize the needle’s depth and type to provide the best results.
Our trained specialists numb the skin with a topical anesthetic to prevent discomfort during your treatment. After choosing the appropriate tip size, a specialist rolls the cordless device over your skin with RF energy emitting from the needle tips. After 10 to 20 minutes, you may return home.
It is essential to be gentle with your skin after your treatments and to avoid direct sun exposure as it heals. The next few days following is the best time to use medical-grade skin care products since they will reach the deeper layers of skin.
What Does RF Microneedling Treat?
RF microneedling can treat a variety of skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Stretch marks
- Large pores
- Acne or surgical scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Cellulite
- Loose sagging skin
RF Microneedling can work on all skin types and tones to allow safe and effective treatment with a lower risk of increased hyperpigmentation in those with darker skin tones.
