As you age, it is common to experience loss of volume in the cheeks, hands, lips, and under the eyes, which can make you look older than you appear and impact your self-confidence. If you struggle with a loss of volume in areas of your face or hands and want a non-surgical solution that can provide you with plump and natural-looking results, look no further than dermal fillers.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that can restore volume to the face and define your features. Dermal fillers typically contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound responsible for keeping your skin hydrated and flexible. When an experienced practitioner injects dermal fillers into varying areas of your face, you can achieve a plump, smooth, and youthful appearance.
What is the Difference Between Juvederm® and Restylane®?
Juvederm® and Restylane® are both part of a family of dermal fillers made with formulas that can enhance and plump your features to rejuvenate your face. While the Juvederm® collection of dermal fillers is a smooth gel formula, the Restylane® collection formula contains particles that vary in size depending on what the filler treats.
Both the Juvederm® and Restylane® families of fillers have excellent options to choose from, but the filler best suited for you will depend on your goals. During your consultation, one of our experienced practitioners will help you determine which filler is right for you.
What Results Will I See With Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are a popular choice for facial rejuvenation as they are non-invasive and can be a good alternative to surgical procedures. Dermal fillers are long-lasting and provide youthful, natural-looking results. With dermal fillers, you can see results such as:
- More defined facial features
- Plumper lips
- Restored volume
- Diminished fine lines and wrinkles
- Smoother skin
- A refreshed appearance
The longevity of your results with Juvederm® or Restylane® will vary depending on the filler used and the treatment area. Generally, Restylane® fillers last six to 18 months, while some Juvederm® fillers may last one to two years.

Request a consultationIs There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?
One of the great things about dermal fillers is that no downtime is necessary after your appointment, so you are free to return to normal activities right after treatment. After dermal fillers, you may experience some bruising or swelling near the injection site, which is common and should subside within two to three days.
You should avoid strenuous exercise and heated activities such as saunas for at least 48 hours after treatment to avoid worsening swelling. If you receive dermal fillers in your face, be sure to sleep with your head elevated and avoid sleeping on the treatment area.
