Smooth Frown Lines With The ‘New Botox’

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a stellar wrinkle reduction treatment that was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use back in 2002, but there’s a ‘Newtox’ on the medical aesthetics market, and it’s known as Jeuveau™. Jeuveau™, like BOTOX® Cosmetic, is a wrinkle reduction treatment that addresses dynamic facial expression lines created by the repeated movement of the muscles.

Jeuveau™ is an FDA approved cosmetic injectable that is indicated for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe lines between the brows, also known as frown lines or glabellar lines.

Jeuveau™ (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is a neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is a purified form of botulinum toxin formula type A. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are the other neuromodulators available at our office.

How Does Jeuveau™ Work?

Jeuveau™ has the same basic mechanism of action as the other neuromodulators used as wrinkle reduction treatments. It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. Some feel that Juveau provides a slightly “softer” look than other neuromodulators.

When Jeuveau™ is injected into the underlying facial muscles it inhibits the release of acetylcholine, which is the chemical from the nerves that causes the muscles to contract. The muscles injected with Jeuveau™ can no longer contract and this causes wrinkles to become smoother and less visible.

Am I A Good Candidate For Jeuveau™?

If you are at least 18 years of age and have mild to moderate frown lines that you would like to soften, you may be a good candidate for Jeuveau™. Ideal candidates for Jeuveau™ wrinkle reduction treatment should also be healthy and have realistic expectations about the procedure.
