Being overweight can be frustrating, placing your health at risk and lowering your quality of life. Weekly weight loss injections monitored by West Michigan Plastic Surgery can help you lose weight so you can enjoy life to its fullest. Men and women struggling to drop excess pounds using traditional methods may be good candidates for semaglutide weight loss treatment at our practice serving Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, and other West Michigan communities.
If you’ve heard about these weight loss injections but still wonder about their safety and effectiveness, you can rest assured that they’re well-studied and more than a passing trend. Our FDA-approved semaglutide treatments are supervised by a board-certified plastic surgeon and offer a proven, effective path to accelerating and maintaining weight loss—especially when combined with other healthy lifestyle habits.
What Is Semaglutide?
Initially approved for diabetes management, semaglutide is a medication known to mimic a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). GLP-1 receptors signal your brain that you’re full and keep you satiated for longer stretches. We now understand that semaglutide stimulates insulin production, regulates blood sugar levels, and slows gastric emptying, curbing your appetite and accelerating weight loss.
Our 4-month Semaglutide package costs $499 per month and features:
- Free phone consultation with our weight loss coordinator
- Initial appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon to review lab work results and discuss treatment plan*
- Monthly pre-dosed supply of medication
- Training & supplies for weekly self-injections
- Online weight loss tracking log
- Monthly in-person visits with our weight loss coordinator
- Ongoing resources to support your weight loss journey (nutritional plans, personal training tips, skincare treatment suggestions, etc.)

Semaglutide FAQs
What is compounded semaglutide?
The compounded weight loss medications offered by West Michigan Plastic Surgery are prepared by licensed pharmaceutical professionals and sourced from FDA-registered or accredited compounding pharmacies. This means they must adhere to stringent quality and safety control standards. Compounded semaglutide is designed to meet individual patient weight loss needs.
Are semaglutide injections safe?
Semaglutide is FDA-approved for long-term weight loss treatment and considered safe when administered as part of a medically monitored weight loss program. Some common side effects patients may experience while taking these medications include nausea, diarrhea, or constipation. Adjusting your dosage often improves these side effects. We do not recommend semaglutide injections for weight management if you are breastfeeding or have a preexisting kidney or liver condition.
How are semaglutide injections administered?
Your first subcutaneous injection will be administered at West Michigan Plastic Surgery during your initial in-person consultation with Dr. Holley. You will receive training and supplies for self-injections administered once weekly at home over 4 months. We gradually increase dosage throughout your treatment program to minimize side effects.
Semaglutide dosing schedule:
Weeks 1 to 4: 5 Units
Weeks 5 to 8: 10 Units
Weeks 9 to12: 15 Units
Weeks 13 to16: 20 Units
How long do weight loss medications take to work?
While results vary for each patient, most men and women observe weight loss in the first month of treatment and notice significant results in 4 to 6 months.
How much weight will I lose?
Every patient is unique, but most patients taking semaglutide lose approximately 15% of their body weight.
What happens when you stop taking semaglutide?
Research shows that most patients regain some weight after stopping GLP-1 treatment. To preserve your weight loss, it’s essential to maintain healthy lifestyle habits such as eating a balanced diet and working out regularly.
